Energy
Connecticut pays
among the highest prices in the nation, for an inefficient, unreliable supply
of energy. Investments in conservation, transmission and distribution grids, and alternative methods of
generation will create new jobs, stabilize energy costs, and protect our
competitive position.
Expand state assistance to the energy conservation and efficiency programs of municipalities and school districts.
Streamline, without reducing environmental protections, the siting and permitting processes for new generating facilities.
Enable, through tax credits, grants and loans, the rapid adoption of fuel cell technology.
Consolidate state energy functions within a new Connecticut Department of Energy. Several state agencies, such as the Dept. of Public Utility Control, Clean Energy Fund, Energy Advisory Board, Energy Conservation Management Board, Office of Consumer Council, Siting Council, Dept. of Environmental Protection and the Office of Policy and Management, all have energy planning responsibilities.
