The region we inhabit grows steadily more diverse, offering opportunity and challenge to business leaders. Our members serve, globally and locally, a diverse customer base while employing a diverse workforce. A commitment to diversity is, therefore, a willing embrace of the future, an investment in talent and a marketing imperative.
By expanding business and individual opportunities for economic participation and growth, we strengthen the competitive advantage of our region and our member firms. The Business Council will diversify its membership by placing special emphasis on recruiting and serving minority and women-owned businesses. Further, we will enhance the value of our programs and services by encouraging the participation of diverse individuals employed by our members.
We will assist progress toward diversity by our members through public policy advocacy and by supporting their individual efforts in the areas of employment, promotion and vendor relations. We will promote educational policies and opportunities that will produce a diverse workforce that is reflective of our communities.
Finally, we will assure sustained, effective commitment to these goals by diversifying our volunteer leadership and our professional staff, setting formal, measurable objectives, conducting periodic progress assessments, and making enhancements as warranted.
