Frequently
Asked Questions
Why
do we need the Fairfield County Business Alert System?
Experience gained through actual events and emergency preparedness exercises
has taught the Business Council of Fairfield County that communication during
a crisis incident is a critical issue.
With 85% of the critical infrastructure either owned or operated by the
private sector, their actions must mesh with those of the government sector.
The private sector plays a key role, in partnership with the government
sector, in disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.
Where
did this idea come from?
As a result of September 11, 2001, government and business leaders have taken
important steps to improve homeland security and plan effectively for various
crisis situations. In early 2002,
The Business Council of Fairfield County formed the Security & Crisis
Management Forum. Together, representatives from the corporate community and
public sector regularly dialogue on issues of security and emergency
preparedness. The committee has been critical in providing opportunities to
develop workable solutions with the public sector on how to manage a potential
incident.
Who
can participate in the Fairfield County Business Alert System?
Businesses
located in Fairfield County and governmental entities may participate in the
