Recognizing the need to accelerate the number of start-ups and to help smaller high tech firms grow in Connecticut, and in response to legislation authorizing funding for improvements in this area, the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and Connecticut Innovations (CI) joined forces in 2012 to create CTNEXT.
CTNEXT is a statewide network dedicated to strengthening Connecticut’s innovation community by opening up national, statewide, and local networks so entrepreneurs can access the knowledge, resources and opportunities they need to succeed, recognizing the importance of early stage companies as innovators and job creators.
Working with leading entrepreneur support organizations, CTNEXT Partners identify and support the growth of Connecticut’s most promising early stage companies. The Business Council of Fairfield County will provide assessment, mentoring and referral services to all Stage 2 firms (those in business at least 1 year and on a path to a growing revenue stream and increased employee counts) across the County.
The Growth Advisory Services team at The Business Council is designed to help Fairfield County firms “Speed Up” their growth by matching company needs to new resources, programs and funding as required. The Business Council’s Growth Network, a group of over 40 accounting, legal, banking, consulting and technology businesses, will also support the Growth Advisory Services effort, as will the statewide resources that are part of the Center for Growth Resources, all of whom share facilities with The Business Council, in its Stamford offices.
