2010 Leadership Fairfield County

Developing Community Leaders
Exploring Regional Challenges

Program Overview
Leadership Fairfield County is a professional development program that broadens the skills and perspectives of organizational leaders and provides the region with individuals who are prepared to serve as catalysts for positive change.  Established in 1992 by the Business Council of Fairfield County, “Leadership” has served more than 300 executives from 80+ companies, non-profit organizations and government agencies.

Each year, mid to senior level professionals are selected by their organizations to participate in this educational program.  Class size is limited to 25.  Participants receive exposure to the critical issues facing Fairfield County through on-site visits, moderated interaction with working professionals, lectures, discussion groups, and other leadership development activities.  Participants are encouraged to actively engage presenters in dialogue and take advantage of their expertise by asking thoughtful and thought provoking questions.

Monthly sessions, beginning in April and concluding in November, last from three hours to a full day, with the majority running from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  All will be held on Fridays.

Sites visited will be in Stamford, Bridgeport, Newtown, Hartford and Norwalk and will include city halls, a transportation center, a waste water treatment facility, public and public charter schools, the State Capitol, a hospital, and a correctional facility, among others.

Program Benefits
Access. Connections. Solutions.
Program participants will not only deepen their knowledge of Fairfield County and Connecticut - they will have a seat at the table as the issues facing the state and the region are discussed, debated and challenged.  LFC’s interactive approach will strengthen the participant’s ability to engage and make change in the communities they live and work. Additionally, the LFC experience provides access to key subject leaders as well as to professional peers, enhancing the participant’s own network.

Employers will see increased leadership and problem solving skills in their employees.  Leadership Fairfield County helps identify key areas of corporate community involvement and strengthens the connection to issues critical to the region’s quality of life.
