Joe McGee Appointed to Governor Malloy’s
State Team Organized for the Review of Management
of Irene

Stamford, Connecticut; September 16, 2011 - - Joseph McGee, Vice President, Public Policy and Programs, The Business Council of Fairfield County, was recently appointed by Governor Malloy to be co-chairman of the State Team Organized for the Review of Management of Tropical Storm Irene.

The panel was created to “understand how state agencies performed, how local officials performed and how the private sector reacted to Tropical Story Irene,” with the goal of assessing what was done correctly, and what activities could be improved upon.

Joining Joe on the panel are Major General James Skiff (Co-Chair), U.S. Army, Retired; Peter Carozza, President, Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters; Terry Edelstein, President, Connecticut Community Providers Association; Lee Hoffman, Attorney, Pullman & Comley, Environmental Law and Energy and Utility Matters; Scott Jackson, Mayor, Hamden; Robert McGrath, Former Fire Chief, Stamford and Cathy Osten, First Selectman, Sprague.

“We are pleased that Joe has been chosen to serve on S.T.O.R.M.,” commented Chris Bruhl, President & CEO, The Business Council of Fairfield County. “Business continuity planning is critical. While the private sector continues to refine their plans as a normal course of business, to not review past performance of all involved would be a wasted opportunity. We look forward to the insights and lessons learned from the panel’s findings and how our state’s infrastructure rates in the face of future threats.”

As Vice President, Public Policy & Programs, Joe has worked extensively with the business community, civic organizations and government officials in the areas of economic development, transportation, housing, energy conservation, environment and tax and fiscal policy.

The Business Council of Fairfield County is a member-driven organization, providing a wide range of services including legislative advocacy, economic development initiatives, networking programs, leadership training and more.
