The Business Council of Fairfield County Hosts
Healthy Workplaces Best Practices and Recognition Event


Stamford, Connecticut; March 27, 2007 - - On Tuesday, March 27th, experts from Anthem, Reader’s Digest and Xerox Corporation shared their best practices and recent experiences in a panel discussion moderated by Christopher Bruhl, President & CEO, The Business Council of Fairfield County. The Business Council of Fairfield County will also recognize the efforts of these and 9 additional companies who have implemented cutting edge programs to promote a healthy workplace and assist their employees to live healthier lives.

 “Health is a business issue. As costs related to health and health care escalate business has responded in a variety of ways,” commented Christopher Bruhl, President & CEO, The Business Council of Fairfield County. By recognizing the efforts of employers to promote healthy lifestyles, we hope to serve as a catalyst for other employers in both the private and public sector to take action.”

Corporate Wellness Programs in the Region
Research demonstrates that employers realize increased productivity and reduced direct healthcare costs when they offer health and wellness programs to their employees.

About The Health Care Leadership Council  
The Healthy Workplaces Best Practices Recognition is a program of The Business Council’s Health Care Leadership Council.  The Council concentrates on the issues of health, health care quality, access and affordability. It develops and publishes health metrics, conducts a communications and events program to raise awareness of health issues and options, hosts best practices exchanges among health care stakeholders, educates small business owners about health insurance options and conducts a public policy advocacy program.  The 24-person group is co-chaired by
Stephen Baird, Managing Director, UBS and Johnna G. Torsone, S.V.P. & Chief Human Resources Officer, Pitney Bowes Inc.
