Stamford, Connecticut; August 5, 2005 - - Teresa Ressel, Chief Operating Officer, The Americas for UBS Investment Bank has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Business Council of Fairfield County.

“Ms. Ressel brings a wealth of experience to the Board of Directors and to the work of The Business Council,” stated Christopher P. Bruhl, President & CEO, The Business Council of Fairfield County. “Her knowledge of state and national issues that impact the region’s business community will help shape our efforts in the areas of economic vitality and health care.”

Ms. Ressel is Chief Operating Officer, The Americas for UBS Investment Bank and also serves on the Board of the UBS Investment Bank. The COO Americas facilitates and leads a broad array of operational matters internal to the geographical region that includes Canada, the United States and South American operations. Teresa’s portfolio includes emergency preparedness and business continuity, community relations, global project management and specifically shaping the Americas performance on Human Resources, Information Technology, Finance, Operations and Security.

Prior to UBS, Ms. Ressel served as Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Treasury from 2002-2004, where she was responsible for audit, controller functions, financial reporting and cash flow; and representing the Secretary’s interest on a broad array of departmental matters including operational controls, technology, security, continuity of operations, human capital and strategic planning. Ms. Ressel initially served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management at Treasury.

Prior to assuming her governmental leadership role in 2001, Ms. Ressel served as an executive at Kaiser Permanente headquarters in Oakland, California from 1994-2000. She managed an array of legal, regulatory, legislative, and operational issues with a broad array of auditing and investigation functions and her tenure included serving as Chief Operating Officer, E-commerce and Chief Compliance Officer for Kaiser Foundation Healthcare.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Ms. Ressel worked as a Program Manager at Hewlett Packard’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California and Regional Program Manager for Hewlett Packard Asia Pacific working on corporate management programs in Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.

Ms. Ressel started her corporate career at General Dynamics in Groton, Connecticut as a Nuclear Engineer managing a variety of nuclear engineering and nuclear construction & testing efforts on Trident Class and 688 Class Attack Submarines.

Ms. Ressel graduated from the University of Delaware in Engineering where she received both her B.S. and M.S. Engineering degrees. She completed her MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1990. She has completed various graduate coursework at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in healthcare policy and health economics.

Ms. Ressel has also been the recipient of many awards and accommodations. Ms. Ressel received the University of Delaware’s Presidential Citation for Outstanding Alumni Achievement in 1996. She was a recipient of the U.S. Treasury Medal from Secretary John W. Snow for her service as the Department’s Chief Financial Officer, and the Treasury Department’s Distinguished Service Medal as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary under Secretary Paul H. O’Neill. She’s also been honored with the Commissioner’s Award, the highest award for public service from the Internal Revenue Service Commissioner. Ms Ressel has served on several boards including technology, manufacturing and non-profit endeavors.
